Feature request: 'with roster assignees --choose action'
When viewing a particular roster the only 'action' which can be performed on all the assignees is to send them an email (it is also possible to email or text those who are assigned to a particular date).
I can see uses for the ability to, for example, 'execute an action plan' on all assignees in a particular roster view. Or 'add to a group'. Or perhaps 'mark as present' in the 'Volunteer Group' on the date/s that they are rostered on.
I guess the assignees are in effect a 'group' of people and it might be convenient to treat them as a group. Trick is they are sort of a transitory group ... in that you see a snap-shot between two given dates.
Perhaps all the 'with selected persons- choose action' dropdown box from the bottom of a report (or group view) might be able to be applied to the roster assignees displaying in a roster view (ie set date range).
The particular 'problem' that brought this idea to mind is the desire to be able to generate a 'list of volunteers' by 'role' between two given dates. Sounds like a roster - but I mean a list of the individuals who have volunteered in a particular role between two given dates - kind of a roster summary sorted by role and not by date... if that makes a bit of sense. I had a bit of a play with the 'mail merge' function, but can't see a way to produced the desired result.
Following up on my own comment.
At the moment it's possible to text or email each roster assignee on a particular date (link in the first column under the date). If this could be expanded (or have the added option of) 'choose action' that might be handy.
And then if the same options/links were possible on Columns too (ie roster roles) that might be equally useful. So you could for example view a roster view of the next ten weeks and email (text, or apply action to) everyone who is on 'welcoming' in the next ten weeks.
That's different to emailing (texting, or applying an action to) all the members of a 'volunteer group' because you're restricting it to those who have volunteered in a particular date range (perhaps a school term). A slightly awkward work around would be to create a roster view with ONE role in it, select your date range, and then email/text all roster assignees.
Fair request. A variation might go like this: a) When displaying a roster, make it possible to choose one or more specific roster ROLES, rather than having to choose a roster view b) expand the "email all assignees show below" to use the bulk-action tool used elsewhere.
That sounds good to me. It would not accidentally do away with the need for views would it? I don't think so, roster views are helpful - particularly for manual or automatic roster reminders.
