Ability to add newcomers when saving attendance
Scenario: You're recording attendance for the service that just finished. At the service you met a new guy called John and a new couple called Andy and Audrey.
Currently, you have to record attendance for everyone else, then go to Families > Add to add two new families. The add-family page has lots of irrelevant fields you have to scroll past (they haven't given you any contact details). Then if you want to mark them as present there's an extra step (unless you have configured an action plan for that).
It would be handy to be able to quickly type in the limited info you have on the save-attendance page. Just first and last name, age bracket and gender. Would need to be grouped into families somehow. You'd need to have "require initial note" turned off.
This would be great! Together with #375 it would make attendance taking much better.
Perhaps a Visitor person type, which can later be properly converted into a proper person if required. As a side effect, such Visitor persons could be rostered on for, eg, guest preachers. I think it would be useful to be able to track the same visitors over time, and then have a report being able to operate on their n-th visit.
I wouldn't even bother about grouping them into families; one could do that at a later "covert to attendee" phase.
I don't like the idea of a whole different "visitor" entity. They are persons! Differentiating people with different levels of connection to church is what the "person status" field is for.
Another EJ request for this, or possibly #872
