Fixes #81, possibly needs test work?

OK, well my fix doesn't work -- good to know! raw is assembled in a bunch of different locations and I don't seem to be able to find where to insert this so it appears consistently. I'd love some help if anyone's able to, otherwise I may try something else. Thanks!
