Please document decorators

Unless I'm missing something - there's no documentation about decorators?

I'd would find this useful - every time I forget what they mean I end up reading the source.

Hi Philipa, have some changes that I'm testing on the dev branch re: decorators.

Will see about a doc update once I've settled on an approach. Thanks for pinging about this!
