specify intended version of library in scene file?

It might be handy to be able to specify which version of the library a given style was designed for. Of course that can always be added as a comment, but as there are an increasing number of instances where a scene file is loaded remotely rather than bundled with a copy of the library (Tangram Play, tangram-frame, Differ) version mismatches are becoming more common.

Would this go into the scene file? Is there any easy way to load and parse the scene file first to check for this information before loading the library, and then hand the cached file off to the map once it's loaded? Or is there a better place to store that kind of information?
