QA/Testing to DEV

Hi Tanay,

I'm on a Test Engineer role but I want to get into a Development role, although Automation Testing seems interesting.

If I stay in testing for another 6 months - 1 year, will I find it very hard to get in a SDE role?

Or if I am able to showcase my Development skills, recruiters will be ready to consider me in a SDE role and also developer's ready to provide a referral? No matter how long I have been in testing.

I was in a frontend inclined dev-role (7 months Intern + 6 months full time) before this, left it because of low-pay and it was a service-based start-up and the Offer with which I got into testing is from a Fortune 500 product-based firm and very good in JavaScript, planning to learn React.

Also can you please cover the field of Testing, SDET & QA in a video Job aspects on this field, does it have enough opportunities? How does the work be like for someone in testing in orgs like Microsoft?

And pay-scale as I have heard people say Developers are paid higher and sometimes a huge difference can be seen.

Testing also seem a good field to me but there's no one talking about it, everyone talks about web and mobile dev, frontend & backend So hard to make decisions regarding career in testing to me.

Thank you.
