In your paper, the equation (12) is to computer Hd, but how the equation (12) convert to the equation (13). Where the parameter xi go? I think equation (13) should be d <- \overline{Hd}, that is the unit vector of the result of the equation (12). @takerum

Yes, you are right. However, the paper is also right. I will call the L2-normalized vector of x as bar(x). bar(g/xi) = (g/xi) / norm(g/xi) =g/xi / (norm(g)/xi) = g/norm(g) = bar(g) So both things are right.
