Official updates on stable branch have stopped since a month on stable channel

Open d5aqoep opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

@soniaappasamy I can see that the tailscale qpkg for QNAP is not updating along with other operating systems on official stable channel website here https://pkgs.tailscale.com/stable/#windows

QNAP is stuck on 1.74.0 while others are at 1.76.1

Even unstable channel builds have started to lag. Just wondering if this is an issue or QNAP build will catch up with next official release?

Thanks.

Thank you for asking. We are aware of the delay and working through it. The plan is for the QNAP build to catch back up with the other releases once we sort it out.

I'll leave this ticket open until the QNAP package is caught up.

My qnap.org has an updated tailscale client at,

https://www.myqnap.org/product/tailscale/

Add it as a repo detailed here,

https://www.myqnap.org/install-the-repo/

and install Tailscale, to add it to your tailscale network, Enable SSH on your Qnap and login and then do the command

"cat /opt/Tailscale/tailscale.txt"

That will give you the link to validate your new Qnap tailscale install.

@oxtoacart Hello !

Any update on this issue? Builds are still out of date since 6 months.

Hi, the QNAP package still appears to be on v1.74.0 (Sept 2024), while other platforms are already at v1.86.2 (July 2025). That’s almost a year behind.

Is there any update on whether the official QNAP builds will resume, or if there’s a timeline for syncing back up with the stable channel?

I’d prefer to avoid relying on third-party sources like QNAP Club or switching to Docker for now, although given recent changes in the package and how outdated the current version is, that may soon become necessary.

Thanks!

P.S. The unstable branch is now almost up to date. Currently available: x86_64: Tailscale_1.85.217-1_x86_64.qpkg Is there any information on whether this build (or a newer one) is planned to be promoted to stable? Even a slightly older build like this one, but still relatively recent, would be very welcome.

MyQNAP.org is pushing a modified version QTailscale.qpkg that is still relatively in sync with the latest version.

I wish the official stable builds would catch up. Why do the QNAP unstable builds get updated but NOT the stable branch?

Thanks Dawester54 for letting me know about the unstable branch. I am hopping that if the unstable branch builds were resumed, the stable will follow. At least we're no longer stuck on the very old version.

We had some issues with package signing that were preventing builds. QNAP packages are building again and available on unstable. Once 1.88.0 is released, we'll submit it to QNAP for inclusion in the QNAP App Center.

@oxtoacart That's great news! Will they also pop on stable as of 1.88.0 as well since they are going into the QNAP App Center?

Yes, 1.88 is out and stable has a QNAP build once again!

We're working with QNAP to get 1.88 into the App Center. I'll provide an update here once that's finished.
