fdroid metadata: add Russian localization

Open yurtpage opened this issue 10 months ago • 2 comments

Could you please integrate your project with Weblate.org, Transfinex or any other translation system? This would significantly simplify translation and attract more users.

Also please add the App Metadata to the Weblate. Here is a sample of Conversations app metadata translation via Weblate https://translate.codeberg.org/projects/conversations/app-store-metadata-conversations/

Meanwhile I added one translation.

Thank you for contributing this metadata. Please be assured that we do have future plans to localize the Tailscale client into multiple languages, and we'll definitely look into engaging with the open-source community to source these translations.

While I appreciate the effort you put into this PR, as a company we need to approach localization and internationalization as a more comprehensive project, with coordinated efforts across our engineering, design, documentation, and support teams. For instance, Tailscale support currently only provides service in English. Introducing localized versions of the client would likely result in a significant number of non-English support tickets, presenting operational challenges.

Localizing a product packed with highly technical networking terms like Tailscale presents numerous challenges. What's a good translation for exit node or NAT traversal? Should we try to localize subnet router, or leave it in English? Before accepting contributions, we must provide translators with detailed guidance on how to address these complexities.

I won't be closing this PR, but I am also unable to merge it at this time. I encourage you to stay tuned for updates on our broader localization efforts.

Thank you for your interest in improving Tailscale! :)
