A search in this repo returns no file for build.sh or build.bat, However Visual Studio provides a way to compile this project
you need to patch the MS WSL extension or use Open Remote - WSL from openvsix

Can you sanity check that you are signed in? 
Im unsure, what does it say if you try to commit and push changes anyway?
