tabula-java reads first row duplicated, with some letters missing

Running Ubuntu 18.04.1 Java (Oracle) 1.8.0_191

When running:

$ java -jar tabula-1.0.2-jar-with-dependencies.jar -l res/CEPI-1-1.pdf

The output is:

This issue is still happening in current version, but only in lattice mode. Command:

java -jar target/tabula-1.0.4-SNAPSHOT-jar-with-dependencies.jar -a 108,0,720,583 -l ../res/CEPI-1-1.pdf

Again, duplicated words (and some missing characters). Also, The mapping from the original table structure to the csv output is strange (or not very clear to my eyes).

On the other hand, without lattice mode, there is no duplication, but at least one cell is split (see: "Prevencion de riesgos laborales"):
