Question - Selecting Year, Month and then Date?

I would like for my users to be able to open the calendar widget and firstly pick the year, month and then date.

I checked the docs and thought it was possible using the view: "years" option it didn't work (or seem to change anything).

Am I using the right option, or is there another - or does this functionality not exist? I am using v2.2.3.
