EDGE Build 2404 early results Round #2.5
A few more observations , continuing from #26
- When in the Axis/Motor Settings Tab, i found that I could not enter a Maximum Jerk of 5,000,000,000 and Apply it, the value would revert to the previous value. I was able to set it from the command line, e.g $xjm=5000000000, see it reported in the scroll window and see the Maximum Jerk field update. Not critical in my opinion.
- I note that when changing values in fields in the Axis display, Apply must be selected for each change made. If I change two fields they display as changed, but selecting Apply seems to only make the most recent change stick, prior changes revert. Perhaps that is what you intended.
- On two different occasions, as I was entering parameters and selecting Apply, the interface stalled (non-responsive to mouse clicks) and tgFX essentially crashed. I may have entered a bogus value (such as 10..00[hard to see the two periods, isn't it :)] ) or some similar fat finger. Once rebooting TinyG cleared it, another I had to kill tgFX and restart. Just an observation, not critical.
- On the Gcode Tab A question about the Drawn Bounding box. My Maxhine dimensions are set for X and Y travel maximum=170mm. The left Y axis has an X value of X=-7.97 and the bottom X axia has a Y value of Y=5.84, both determined with the mouse cross hair(with difficulty, due to black on black). Strange numbers, I suppose I am just curious.
- I like the X and Y coordinate readouts that are now in the lower right corner of the gray field bounding the black workarea. They always seem to be absolute, relative to the lower left origin which is (-7.97,5.84). A nice feature (future) might be to have a second X,Y readout (perhaps different color) that is X,Y in the coordinate space relative to the Zero Axes relative origin. Would make it easier then to make measurements on the drawn prevue with the mouse cursor. 5.5 Edit: I just noticed that on startup of tgFX the origin of the X-Y orange box is in fact (0,0). So somehow, in several runs of the test Gcode and switches from mm to inch the origin creeps?
All for now
2.. Interesting.. I will play with that.
- that is not by design.
- I think this is fixed in a build I have yet ot push.
5.5 not sure i follow this one.
Items 5 and 5.5. It has been a while since I focused on this, next time I am at the machine I'll try to refresh myself and try a new explaination.
OK, got some system time today and refreshed my confusion.
When I hit reset on TinyG and the reset completes I see messages in tgFX scroll window and the display area redraws, with a red dot n the lower left hand corner, X and Y dimensions per the current TinyG settings. If I move the mouse cursor into the work area, and bring the cursor (a black + on a black background, so difficult) down close to the red dot (the origin), the x and Y position readout in the gray bounding box seem are close to (-10,10). It is difficult to be real precise positioning the mouse.
I'm not sure where these coordinates are referenced to, but a readout of (0,0) would be more useful, I think.
Hope that helps
