Empty versioner archive / trash from GUI

Open ghost opened this issue 9 years ago • 3 comments

I would like to see a folder option from the syncthing GUI to empty the trash can or stored versions manually, if file versioning is used. It is easy to forget about the hidden folders stored there, thus one with bigger files may think about to run out of space.

Yep, sounds reasonable.

+1 Also it would be nice to see somewhere in GUI disk size of versions folder, to help with decision whether it needs to be cleaned or not

On the same note as disk size of versions folder - could there be a possible size limitation for cleaning? This obviously does not really help for "Trash Can" versioning, since a size limit would just mean some files are not versioned. But for "Staggered," "Simple," and "External" versioning, it would be nice to have a size limitation. So say like for "Simple" instead of just X number of versions, you keep X number of versions up to XX size.

This is a bit of an advanced thing, might be worth its own topic. The tricky part would be "determining" which files would be deleted. One idea would be to simply view the oldest file with the most versions. So if a file hasn't been changed in a long time but has X versions, then that would be a good candidate for deletion. Or could have an option like "oldest first" or "most versions first" to let the user decide.
