Improving the properties of the control measure symbols (line - general)

Open harrywipperfuerth opened this issue 5 years ago • 1 comments

The property set "CM Line (General)" should be used for all line symbols that have not been assigned a specific property set.

The property set for general line symbols affects the following control measure areas of 2525d:

  • Maneuver
  • Direction of Attack
  • Fire Support
  • Airspace
  • Maritime
  • Fire Support Coordination
  • Obstacle
  • Supply Point
  • Mission Tasks

Proposal for the content and structure of the property window (named "CM - Line (General)") for control measure point symbols:

grafik

Remarks:

The green marked amplifiers correspond to the specifications according to 2525d.

If phase line is selected, "PL" is displayed at the line on the board. If "Other" is selected, "PL" is not displayed at the line on the map (as a general line for all other guide lines). "Other" should be the default value.

The amplifier "Hostile (Enemy)" is not necessary in my opinion, because "Hostile" can be defined by the standard identity.

Echelon und Additional Information is not listed in the list of amplifiers for line symbols in 2525d, but this ampflifier makes sense here and are in the overview of the amplifiers for area symbols (Table H-II, page 390) in 2525d.

In my opinion, the amplifiers "Type", "Distance", "Azimuth" and "Target Designator" would not need to be included in the properties section.

The symbol icon (field "A") is already defined when the basic symbol is selected.

The Icon "Change Symbol Type" is used to change the "basic symbol" within the control measure line (general) symbols without the user having to create a new symbol and thus discard the previous entries.

The property set for general area symbols should be also affects to the following areas (not control measures) of 2525d:

  • Atmospheric Symbols (Line)
  • Oceanographic Symbols (Line)
