Multiple Schema Tags

Open bigstamp opened this issue 5 years ago • 1 comments

I've just switched over to The SEO Framework and have installed the articles extension to be able to use the NewsArticle Schema type but my theme already outputs the Article Scheme as well.

Does having NewsArtice & Article schema on the same page cause any issues? Also when I leave the drop-down set to article I get two lots of article schemas in my html. Will this cause issues? Should I just stick the what my theme outputs.

Hello! Welcome on board 😃

We tested a few known news publishers with us that have the same issue, and Google consistently used our script over the theme's (descriptions and images matched with ours). Moreover, the articles are being published on Google News within the hour.

This is likely because our script is outputted much earlier than the theme's script. As such, the findings mentioned above should also apply with duplicated Article scripts.

To be safe, if you can disable the extraneous output from the theme, it'll ensure no conflicts can arise. This is what I recommend doing.

If you're running into any other issues, feel free to let me know! Thank you!
