No response in Home app after 4.1.6 update

Open eframsterdam opened this issue 3 years ago • 9 comments

Hi, my HomeyKit accessories loose connection all the time, looks like this happened after 4.1.6 update. Restarting the app doesn’t help. Restarting Homey did onces but lost connection after few hours again.

Pls help! Everything is running based on Homeykit here :-)

There haven't been any changes in HomeyKit that could cause this, the only reason for the recent updates is to work around problems caused by Homey's new 7.4.1 firmware.

Thanks for your quick reply and app. Any suggestion what I should do?

Check if your Homey isn't using too much RAM/CPU (turn on the "Power User experiment" in the Homey app settings, then you can make RAM/CPU charts in Insights).

Also, is it just HomeyKit that fails, or have you noticed other issues too? For instance the Homey app claiming that Homey is offline, or other apps that have trouble connecting to their devices.

RAM/CPU usage very low, no other issues. I restarted Homey and Homeykit App multiple times but connection doesn’t come back

Homey's network stack is notoriously unstable. Given that the HomeKit protocol itself isn't very stable either, it might be a combination of the two that are causing your issues. I can't really fix any of that 🙄

Do you know how to run Homey apps from the command line? If so, I can explain how to install an older version of the HomeyKit app to see if that works better for you.

Nope that’s one bridge to far for me haha. I think I will try to reconnect Homeykit completely. This will remove my setup in the Home app but I don’t see it working spontaneously. If that doesn’t work, I might reach out to you after learning how to work with command line and try an older version. Thanks for your support so far

Hi at all. I have the same problem in my system (Homey Pro). Hope in a future update.

The main changes in the latest versions of HomeyKit are to work around problems introduced by the Homey v7.4 firmware. This version is less forgiving with errors (crashing an app more quickly) than before, and it turned out that there are plenty of issues in the Homey SDK and Web API.

As the developer, I cannot fix these. All I can do is report them, and work around them by ignoring them. If I don't ignore them, the app will crash.

We have to wait for Athom to fix the actual problems (although they haven't even been acknowledged).

For users that are familiar with installing Homey apps from the command line, I can provide instructions to roll back to a previous version of HomeyKit to see if that works better for you.
