[Feature Request] Allow for manual editing of metadata
I only just setup Swing Music, so I haven't had a lot of time to play with it, but it seems that there is no way to manually edit metadata.
I would love to manually edit metadata for artists as I import my own music to Swing Music and is partly using it to host and provide previews of my music.
Edit: I found Swing Music from the Awesome Selfhosted list, in case you're curious.
hello @thorbm1500 , swingmusic currently does not support editing metadata directly. swingmusic parses its metadata from file tags.
You can tag your files with programms like musicbrain picard. Then swingmusic will display the correct metadata
I do already use Picard to edit metadata for songs, but my issue is specifically for the artist and not the song itself.
It's really just a quality of life feature, so doesn't make Swing Music any less usable without it, but would be nice to have!
Sorry I mistook it as a known bug. But this seems to be a new one. Could you please explain in detail what it should be and what it is
Ah sure, no worries! I noticed that someone else has already requested the same feature https://github.com/swingmx/swingmusic/issues/328
Ideally it would be a button like "Edit Metadata", where you could at the very least upload a custom artist image. Other nice features could be things changing the artist name, adding links to other streaming services/artist resources, and a description. Example of last 2 from Meelo:
Just for my understanding.

There is no difference in the way your files are tagged and the information displayed. Keep in mind, the artist name is also parsed from the file tags.

You are specially requesting a way to change for example the artist name. And this is only done to rename the artist name - correctly parsed from the file tags - to somewhat more familiar.
Do I understand this correct? If there is a difference between the information in the tags and the information displayed, it is a bug.
No, not exactly, sorry. I want to be able to change an artist's picture manually, so that when Deezer fails to provide a photo, we will be able to manually set one, so that the artists wont have blank artist pictures.
I was just giving examples of other artist metadata that could be nice to be able to change but not needed for this specific case.
