Very high energy use

I've had my fans spinning up a lot on my MacMini, when it doesn't usually. I tracked this down reliably to whether SwiftBar is running. For example: CleanShot 2023-11-16 at 19 53 56@2x

  • macOS version: 13.6.1
  • SwiftBar version: 1.4.4

I'm running these plugins:

  • LaunchAgenda
  • Spotify Now Playing
  • uptime

But even with all disabled, the CPU/Energy is still just as high.

  • [x] I don't run Bartender/Dozer/etc. or tested the issue without it running

Hi @jgclark, yikes! 😬

Can you please collect some logs for SwiftBar with Console.app and share it with me? I wonder if we see something in there...

Hey @jgclark, I can't do much without logs.

Firstly, apologies for the delay. Second, it’s still happening with v2.0.0. I’ve had a look in Console.app and searched and couldn’t find anything that mentioned swiftbar. Could you be more specific about what to attempt to collect?

However, I can show you some evidence from the Activity Monitor.

At arrow 1 I quite SwiftBar. The main change in the display was sandboxd (about 80%) and syspolicyd (60%) going under 1%. At arrow 2 I restarted it again, and they appeared at or near the top.

A little late I quit SwiftBar again (at arrow), and here’s what it looked like when quiet:

I hope that provides a clue or two.
