Status of the project?
Hi there,
Just inquiring about the status of the project. I see the milestone 1.10 https://github.com/swarmpit/swarmpit/projects/3 hasn't been updated since Sept 2020.
I'm asking because I like swarmpit much more than Portainer and I'd be sad to have to change!
Thanks!
@patrick-leb Hi Patrick, we didn't abandon Swarmpit project, actually we're still using Swarmpit for our customers and internal infrastructure however we don't have as much time as we would like to to implement new features for the community. The current feature set of Swarmpit is basically "good enough" for us and our customers. We will be happy to review and help you to get new functionality in but currently core team of Swarmpit is busy doing other work :)
That's unfortunate. I'm a Swarmpit daily user too and have a lack of these features: -editing configs -editing auto pulling interval (even GitLab has limits, and I can't pull images from it) -missing GitHub registry
@mrspartak -editing auto pulling interval (even GitLab has limits, and I can't pull images from it) -missing GitHub registry
These 2 are not hard to do so we can take a look into it .. :)Actually i was adding support for GH registry, it was just not ready on GH side .. will check the status
Does sponsoring the project would help @nohaapav ? If yes, what threshold in term of monthly revenue would be needed ?
@nohaapav
I understand and I'm grateful you guys even decided to open-source this project. I agree it's mostly feature-complete. Two (easy?) things that i'd like, in addition of @mrspartak list:
- Ability to duplicate configs. We know they are immutable, but a duplicate button would be great
- Keeping the comments in the compose editor.
Otherwise it's a pleasure to use :)
@patrick-leb Hi Patric, we'll try to find some gap to push the most requested features hopefully soon.

Hi @abellion. We're trying to find some serious fund in past so we could fully focus on Swarmpit DEV but with no luck. As Docker was sold to Mirantis people were giving up on Docker Swarm so it was tricky to convince investors about the potencial. Nowadays me and @lumir-mrkva are contracted with multiple projects so it's not easy to find a time gap to push new features into Swarmpit. So yes, some serious funding can of course help the case.

I see, I've just sent you an email to see if we can work out on something.
Reading the comments, it came to my mind the following:
- Supporting external plugins / add-ons in Swarmpit would solve the bandwidth issue?
- Would it be feasible to implement? How much effort approx would it take? ... or even, does this idea make any sense? 😄
@lightningspirit External plugins won't solve much as there is always FE part that must be done usually.
It would also be nice to get https://github.com/swarmpit/swarmpit/issues/599 fixed, as memory usage display by application isn't working for a lot of people, including me.
PR with fixes waiting for a year is not good, can you allow more people to approve PRs on the project?.
@eramosr22 Where do you see PR with fixes waiting for a year ? I see one upgrade, github CI opened by @lumir-mrkva who can merge request himself, one PR opened month ago regarding healthcheck and one PR not really related to codebase ..
@nohaapav I see this:
https://github.com/swarmpit/swarmpit/pull/611 And also I saw two pr were closed since my comment on yesterday.
Don’t take it personally I just want the project to move forward. Thanks and keep the good work.
