Suggestion: an invert option for the UI
Just in case it's something easy, one idea to help those who have difficulty seeing gray or black text on predominately white, like Skyperious, would be to offer an advanced option in which the program is always color inverted. This way the text is white and the rest dark. If possible, it should apply to the whole program, including the menus and search areas, since they're no easier to see than message content.

Skyperious actually uses system colours in most components; unfortunately the later versions of Microsoft Windows have made a mess of those with the light/dark toggle that is not available for Win32 applications, which Skyperious is.
I do have plans to improve dark mode support, but there's a limit to what can be done easily.
Out of curiosity, can you post a screenshot of what it looks like on your system?
