Note three places where SC numbering varies from Bodhi numbering
The sleuthing of Waiyin has determined three cases where the numbering on SC differs from that in Ven Bodhi's editions of SN and AN.
- AN 5.308-352 (not 316) and AN 5.353 (not 317) -1152)
- The Bodhi numbering appears to be in error here. However this does not affect SC, as the differences occur only inside a compressed range. It seems Ven Bodhi's text relies on a more elaborated edition of the Pali.
- AN 11.310-357 (not 367) and AN 11.358 (not 368)-405
- The Bodhi numbering appears to be in error, which is corrected on SC.
- In SN 12.82-93 of Bodhi's edition, the sutta numbers can, per Ven Bodhi's footnote, be divided by twelve. SC follows the MS edition in adopting this division, which seems to reflect the structure of the suttas better. Thus:
- Bodhi SN 12.82 is SC SN 12.82-92
- Bodhi SN 12.83 is SC SN 12.93-103
- Bodhi SN12.84-93 is SC SN 12.104-213.
