Browser - remove favorite and refresh consistently on favorites

Open baconpaul opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

  • [ ] add a favorite and refresh
  • [ ] remove a favorite
  • [x] up directory
  • [x] not red/blue but something more pleasing

get that done and we are probably good for duration and can push all browser stuff to back of list

Not sure if I should open a separate issue for the behavior I'm seeing:

  1. When I click on a saved location, then browse subdirs in the box below (the one that currently has 'up one dir' at the top of it). Then I click on the same saved location in the top box, I expect the bottom box to go back to that saved location. Currently it doesn't do anything. I have to click on another saved location first.
  2. Is there currently a limit (5) on the number of saved locations? If so, will that be increased?
  3. Am I confusing Devices with Favorites (with Favorites "coming soon")? Will Devices be more for separate drives?

Sorry for the questions. I know this is pre-alpha, but it's already my favorite FOSS sampler!

Thanks!

Well glad you are enjoying the sampler!

the browser is by far the least developed part of the front page at this point. My guess is we turn to it in sept or so and will figure out how to make it not stink when we do, including fixing the things you shared.

also please remember in this stage we are not streaming stable. If you use a version to make music you love please bounce a stem

  1. That'd be a bug as I would expect that exact thing to happen. It will eventually be fixed when browser becomes our focus, which is not now, as Paul said.
  2. Yes I don't think there should be a forced limit on the number of favorites in the final release
  3. Devices is indeed going to be for listing your drives, much like Finder/Explorer do.

Thanks for the very helpful replies!

For now, I will continue to use Ardour to browse for samples and drag and drop. That feature alone is golden! Also being able to swap samples with the arrow buttons in the sample tab 🤌

Great.

And since you are an active user, if you happen to use discord, a lot of updates are there now since we are in a very sort of mini-sprints-coordinated-in-chat mode. We would welcome you there if you want to join and are a user of the platform.
