Add ability for notifications
I think this would be incredible if more folks used this.
How difficult would it be to add some type of notifications to see incoming messages? Preferably without the browser open.
If your browser isn't open then I don't think you can decrypt any messages, and without decrypting a message I don't think you can know any message is for you. Consequently I suspect someone else must notify you, and I don't think they can do that unless they know a message is for you. I can think of two solutions:
- give the group key to a third party who runs a notification server, one that's reliably online, scans every message in the group, and notifies you whenever it detects that one of them is for you
- ask around within the group hoping to find someone already there who is willing to run such a notification server
The first option seems too breaching. The second option seems too improbable. So I'm not sure what to do.
I agree; quite a difficult problem to solve. Just a thought as I've been playing with it. Great webapp.
How about doing something similar to what KoalaSat has done for Nostr notifications with Pokey? Pokey github
I believe the problema you mentioned would still persist though.
