Unblank only on AC doesn't work

Unblank is always active, whether or not I'm on AC power, even though I have "Unblank only on AC" set to on, as the default. Could this be an effect of the Control Blur Effect extension mentioned in another issue? Is this a bug? ubuntu 22.04

edit: disabled control blur and still unblanks unplugged
