Request for API access: [Your Name]

  • Please tell us about yourself (include an email address):

  • Your purpose in using this API: I am building a web application called “Authentic Hadith” that presents authenticated hadith to users in a clear, trustworthy way. The goal is to let users:

    • Browse and search hadith from well-known collections
    • See the original Arabic text alongside a reliable translation
    • View basic metadata (collection, book, number, grading, source)
    • Read simple explanations and reflections that are clearly separated from the original text

I will not modify or alter the hadith text returned by the API. Any explanations or reflections will be clearly labeled as commentary and will be generated by a separate AI layer that sits on top of the authenticated data. The API will be used only to retrieve hadith text and metadata from approved collections so users can learn and reflect in a safe and respectful way.

  • API rate limits:

    • Maximum requests per second: 3 requests per second
    • Maximum requests per day: 10,000 requests per day

These limits are sufficient for an early-stage application with a small user base and give some room to grow without putting unnecessary load on your service.

  • Is your use case better served by having an offline dump of hadith data or programmatic API access? Programmatic API access would serve my use case best, because I want to:

    • Always reflect the latest, corrected data from your side
    • Avoid managing my own data synchronization pipeline at this early stage
    • Keep a simple architecture where my app calls your API for up-to-date hadith text and metadata

In the future, having an offline dump as a backup could be useful for performance and resilience, but for now primary programmatic API access is what I am requesting.

  • What are the languages in which would you like hadith data? Initially:

    • Arabic
    • English

These two languages cover the main audience for my first version. In later phases I may add other languages if my user base needs them, but Arabic and English are sufficient for my current scope.

  • What programming language will your API client be in? I will be using TypeScript/JavaScript to call the API from a Next.js (Node.js) web application.

As-salaam alaikum, just following up respectfully. I submitted the API access request two weeks ago and wanted to check if any further information is needed from my side.

Jazakum Allahu khayran.
