Resets the reading position in the opened documents

Describe the bug Resets the reading position in the opened documents. Randomly, without visible cause. (I have opened over 10 tabs/documents, frequently at program open, all are on the page 1. This makes using of the PDF reader not usable, unfortunately!)

the settings will "remember" last opened file locations if that option is selected such as current page so if I change page and reopen sumatraPDF later the current page (2 in the example) will be remembered.

Yes, it is set to remember the position. And it works in principle, just occasional at SumatraPDF open, suddenly all PDFs in all tabs are again on page 1. This can happen 2 times per day or 1 time in the week. Comparatively frequently, but I can't see any correlation. It is very frustrating because I have opened about 30-50 documents and use them in my work for weeks or months and I must to be at the page where I was last time, else the search of the current progress on each document again is extremely hard.

hmm so without rhyme or reason the history is disturbed ?

Some things spring to mind such as the drive assignment is not respected, which could happen if they are not in user managed C:\drive\folder. So not on a USB nor in a networked or shared drive like onedrive or other cloud managed areas.

There are several ways to backup the settings file in-case it is corrupted and simplest is save a good backup in time before reopening which used to be needed historically when session was open and windows home updated without warning. So, I wonder if you are having a newer variation of that problem.

What other then the SumatraPDF itself can access: C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\SumatraPDF\SumatraPDF-settings.txt

and NOT delete or corrupt it, but for all books records to change this row: PageNo = 1

Backup of this file before each opening is absolutely not interesting, I want just working light reader.

facing same issue on multiple pre-release builds including last (17059) already, all books except the one that was last opened are being reset to page 1 upon start of application. happens randomly, can open 10 times without any issue and then one day it just resets. never happened for years of using <3.6 versions

This has never happened to me. Unfortunately in order to debug this I would need a reproduction scenario i.e. list of steps to trigger this behavior.

At the very least, the next time this happens please Ctrl + K, show logs and send me the logs. Maybe that would give a clue.

Windows version: Microsoft Windows 11 Enterprise Version 10.0.22631 Build 22631 SumatraPDF version: 3.6.16779

This sounds like they have

Steps to repeat this: LazyLoading = true Open some pdfs, set the pages to anything but page 1. Close sumatrapdf Open sumatrapdf to make sure the pdfs are restored properly. close sumatrapdf restart windows Open sumatrapdf all but the pdf with focus should reset to page 1.

I tracked this down today. I set LazyLoading = false and restarting does not reset the documents.
