Simplify the toolbar
Even when the user is not searching for anything (i.e. the Find field is empty), Sumatra PDF shows a long search box, and Find Next, Find Previous, Match Case options. These options are useless when the user is not searching.
In my opinion, all of this can be replaced by a single search button. When it is clicked, a search box pops up with the text field highlighted. Chrome and Microsoft Edge handle it this way and this feels much more intuitive.
switch off toolbar and you get bigger Microsoft find
Yes, but I want to use other options in the toolbar.
I understand this is a FOSS and UI polish may not be a priority but such improvements can help users who are accustomed to softwares with polished UI.

bloat. please don't do it. "polished" ui of big tech is absolutely dumb - click click click - keep clicking all day. stuff everything with baseless code & logic and sugarcoat with shiny smooooooth animations;
no thanks.
sorry for blunt words, but it is what it is. oh, and it ain't about u personally. it's about the design proposed here.
My point is that the Find option currently takes about 30% of the space of the toolbar and it can be reduced to just one small icon with no degradation of user experience.

The proposed design doesn't require any additional clicks as compared to the current version.
Here I have to click twice after searching where it is in the browser to get a find box opening for typing (too slow I just use F3), but in SumatraPDF it is there all the time even if I dont need to use it, but appreciate its there when I want fast finding, without using F3.
In MS Edge, after clicking the search icon, the search box is highlighted automatically. So, you can start typing instantaneously without needing to click the search box.
So, it is a single click, not two clicks. You can also search without any clicks by pressing Ctrl + F and starting to type immediately after that.
MS Edge is pre-installed on every Windows computer. So, you can easily check how this works.
I just use F3
That's for going to the next match. I am not suggesting to remove this keybind. So, users would be able to use it even after the redesign.
How do you add the search Icon to The edge that everybody has ? Because mine is not there ! There are already more icons than I need so they could cut me some slack by remove co-pilot and profile and "apps are available" I dont use those, "Find" icon only appears after the 2 click approach or if I look for F3 press and disappears after I dismiss the search box. I prefer things to be static for finding.

The search icon is there in the toolbar that appears when you open a PDF in Edge.
Also, I am not suggesting to completely replicate how Edge handles things. But every software has some good points. We can save some screen space if use Edge's approaching of dealing with searching. The good thing is that this approach, though saves screen space, doesn't require any additional clicks.

The search box disappears only when you click the X button. But, in this case, you deliberately closed the box. Right?
It's simple enough.. remaining buttons are actually needed daily.
