Navigating to next record from within Digital Collection

Open ahafele opened this issue 11 years ago • 2 comments

Will there be an option to go to the next digital object in a collection from the item record you are viewing? ie from here http://searchworks-test.stanford.edu/redesign/catalog/9692463 the navigation buttons would be within the collection rather than the entire search results.

@ahafele yes I believe so. I think this relates to #240 @jvine?

@mejackreed No, this doesn't relate to #240, which I still have to deal with, oops.

@ahafele Hm. Not currently. The navigation at the top (back to results, prev, next) is wired to the search result set. If you jump into a record directly (i.e. from a link like this) there should be no results navigation visible (I need to make a ticket for that). There's no collection navigation until you jump into the collection results, which you can do from the item record, but it's an extra step. SearchWorks doesn't really have a sense of "collection order" yet, so it's not clear what the "next" item in the collection would be when you are starting from a random point. It's an interesting idea, though...

Won't do. As @ahafele mentions above, currently we don't order items within a collection so there isn't really a "next" or "previous" item.
