Manually create partitions.

Open sean-skt opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

Hi there,

Thank you for maintaining Groovyarcade. With the latest ISO of GA, is there a way to manually create partitions rather than allowing the setup to automatically do it for you? I don't want a swap partition created as it is 12GB of wasted space and is not needed for the corresponding amount of RAM I have in my system. Thanks again.

Hi

No you can't manually create partitions. Swap is added for hibernation, I know it's of no use for daily GroovyArcade play. And I consider nowadays HDDs/SSDs/NVMes are big enough to loose a little space for swap. And most users wouldn't partition the right way since I've added UEFI support. At best I could ask if the user wants to get rid of swap.

Thanks for the response and understood. Asking to get rid of swap space is a good option if it isn't too much of a hassle to implement.

Definitely not complicated to do, it's no more than 5 lines of code. I'll add this.

Done with https://gitlab.com/groovyarcade/gasetup/-/commit/2cd099db3e49ea037ee0121640d4d05aab8b23c6, will be available in the coming gasetup update
