A single group got locked up until ST crashes

Open deathaxe opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

Description of the bug

Suddenly a single group/pane got locked up. Neither tab selection, nor editing, nor anything else worked.

Resizing the window to the right caused a white rectangle to be rendered. The view/group wasn't updated anymore until the mouse hovered into the client area again.

Maybe related: The locked view was a clone of another view into the same file, which existed in the left group.

I often called "Open File in Editor" from Sublime Merge.

There was no modal dialog box in the background.

... no standby or anything else which is known to lock up ST frequently.

Steps to reproduce

It just happened after several hours of working, with heavily opening/closing files from Sublime Merge.

Unfortunatelly can't provide simple steps for reproduction.

Expected behavior

Groups/views shouldn't lock up.

Is this a one-off or has it happened before?

I've seen that maybe 3 or 5 times during the last months. Often cloned views or "several views into same file" (symlinked files create duplicated unlinked views) were involved.

The package_manager.py was open in both the left and right view. the right one was opened via ST the right one got opened by calling "Open in Editor" from Sublime Merge.

Once it happened when moving (cloning? - don't recall) a tab from pane 1 (left) to pane 2 (right). The view stayed visible but unusable in pane 1, while interacting with it in pane 2 was possible. Any modifications propagated to both views however, IIRC.

View size changes are updated rarely in such a situation. Unfortunately ST crashed before being able to capture the white rectangle on the right when resizing the window.

It always happened after several hours of work.

It's like loosing a reference to such a view/tab at some point.

It's only the view/tab which is unusable. The rest of ST is still in order (until it crashes).

Haven't seen that again. Hence closing.
