Providers are getting a little complicated with the logging and error messaging

Thinking about creating a Base provider class that can handle the logging and error messaging so we don't have to duplicate all that work every time we want to add something new or add a new provider type.

This will be a breaking change as older providers will no longer work so going to target this change for 0.3
