Start download and resuming the download
I tried different browser or incognito mode Still have error session
This could be because of a current issue with cookies. Similar to #63

duplicate of #58
I got it to work. But not by using the Refresh Link advice, but an adaptation of it. So kudos to all who have come before me. Here Goes...
Download session has expired, please refresh download address
- My download started from Mozilla Firefox, by the way: download was started using third-party video downloader (a Firefox extension), then paused in Firefox downloads tab and the download link copied over to XDM 2018 (yes, 2018 version, not the newer versions - XDM 2018 works better than even the 2020, in my video downloading experience).
- Take note of the broken download file name and extension. Mine: "Updated - Bishop T.D. Jakes.mp4".
- Close XDM.
- Exit XDM from the system tray (Notification Area Icons), by the clock on the bottom right side of your desktop.
- Open the xdm foder on your pc. Mine is at "C:\Users[Sky Blue 32].xdman" on a Windows PC running WIndows 7 (forgive the legacy OS...)
- Inside the .xdman folder, open the file named "downloads.txt"
- Still inside the .xdman folder, open the folder "temp", and sort the sub-folders by date modified so the most recent folders are at the bottom or the top of the list.
- In the downloads.txt file, search for the name of the broken download file name and extension, "file: Updated - Bishop T.D. Jakes.mp4", and observe it has its own data section: "11 id: 50406be1-62b5-41ca-a356-e25e07a5bcb4 file: Updated - Bishop T.D. Jakes.mp4 category: 30 state: 130 date: 2021-08-31 01:36:58 downloaded: 293752032 size: 337382633 progress: 87 tempfolder: C:\Users[Sky Blue 32].xdman\temp queueid: formatIndex: 0 11"
- Note the id ("id: 50406be1-62b5-41ca-a356-e25e07a5bcb4"), and check if you can see a sub-folder by this same name in the temp folder. This sub-folder is where XDM is keeping all the parts of the file until it has completed the download to 100%.
- Close the file "downloads.txt" and restart XDM.
- Next. reopen the webpage where the download started from, in my case a streaming video page. So, I restart a new download and a new XDM download job with a slightly different fuile name ("Updated - Bishop T.D. Jakes2.mp4").
- Pause the new XDM download after a few seconds or a few megabytes downloaded.
- Close XDM again, and exit it again from the system tray and return to the .xdman folder (steps 2 to 6 above).
- In the temp folder you will notice a new subfolder has appeared. In my case ("744d5e2e-2277-4eed-8532-017a955c0449")
- In the downloads.txt file, search for the name of the new paused download file name and extension, "file: Updated - Bishop T.D. Jakes2.mp4" and take a look at its data section, : "11 id: 744d5e2e-2277-4eed-8532-017a955c0449 file: Updated - Bishop T.D. Jakes2.mp4 category: 30 state: 130 date: 2021-08-31 02:30:18 downloaded: 2509937 size: 337382633 progress: 0 tempfolder: C:\Users[Sky Blue 32].xdman\temp queueid: formatIndex: 0 11"
- Make a backup copy of the download.txt file, and the two sub-folders for the two downloads, justr in case you want to undo the changes you are about to make here...
- Rename the new paused download's sub-folder with a suffix, just to make it noticable. I used "X-": So "744d5e2e-2277-4eed-8532-017a955c0449" became "X-744d5e2e-2277-4eed-8532-017a955c0449".
- Now give the broken download's sub-folder the original name of the the new paused download: So "50406be1-62b5-41ca-a356-e25e07a5bcb4" became "744d5e2e-2277-4eed-8532-017a955c0449" (tricking XDM you are...).
- Now, inside the downloads.txt file, copy the following values FROM the broken download's data section and paste then one at a time INTO the new paused download's data section, REPLACING the values in the new paused download's data section: "file:", "downloaded:", "size:", and "progress:". DO NOT copy or change any other values, especially not the "id:" value!
- Now my new paused download reads like this: "11 id: 744d5e2e-2277-4eed-8532-017a955c0449 file: Updated - Bishop T.D. Jakes2.mp4 category: 30 state: 130 date: 2021-08-31 02:30:18 downloaded: 293752032 size: 337382633 progress: 87 tempfolder: C:\Users[Sky Blue 32].xdman\temp queueid: formatIndex: 0 11"
- Close the file "downloads.txt", restart XDM, and, yes, simply resume your new download and it will continue where the broken download stopped -- hopefully! Cheers. Good job, all round!
@timgelo Thanks for this fix, it worked for me just now.
@subhra74 Is it possible to implement this in the xdm app itself? It would be a nice bug fix as this would resolve a number of the issues here.
Thanks for helping the community with this app 🙏
@timgelo No need to mess with downloads.txt. The only important step was 16 and 17. Then restart XDM and resume the new downloads. It will continue the broken download. Thx you for the tips mate. You just saved my download and precious bandwidth.
@subhra74 The 7.2.11 was still bugged with the refresh download. Glad i am stumbled upon this issue.
