Youtube videos cannot be found or downloaded. XDM downloads only a small html file, not a video.

Steps to replicate the issue:

Copy the Youtube video URL In XDM, click File / Add URL In the address field, paste the URL, if it is not already there. Choose a folder Click Download Now

The downloaded file is a small html file, about 430 mb is size. It should be an mp4 file, but it isn't

Alternatively, click File / Download Video With the video URL in the first field, click the Find button Result: The Youtube video cannot be found.

Am I doing something wrong? This XDM app used to work, but it stopped working recently. What does work is youtube-dl.exe but it's not as convenient.

I'm on Windows 10, version 19042. My default browser is Brave.

Thanks.

I experienced the same. But I grabbed browser xdm extension and have it on so that when on you tube video and others, it triggers number of downloadable on its extension icon and pop-up floating download. I use that floating download pop-up to select which one to download.

I too need the ability to also pass URLs to XDM, as i want to use an extention on seamonkey which passes URLs to external- third party apps such as XDM

B4eva, Well, I think it's the source keeps changing the procedures to get their goods. Now I use FireDM that's updating whenever the source changes.
