High CPU usage while downloading from google servers (drive, youtube and so on)

Describe the bug XDM use huge % of cpu while downloading from google servers

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to youtube or google drive
  2. Download a file
  3. See cpu usages with task manager or other monitoring software

Expected behavior Should not use that amount of cpu

Additional context CPU usage is normal with idm while downloading same file from same server!

My pc: windows 10 b10240.

i had high cpu usage around 60% while downloading . But it was ffmeg processes popping up in the task manager .

mine max 20 % but by idm arounnd 4%-7%

Please provide below details:

  • Internet speed
  • Stage of the download, where CPU usage is higher ( during download/appending file part/ffmpeg video merging)
  • Type of file being downloaded (Hight CPU only for Video files?)
  • Check if disabling antivirus and performing the download reduces the CPU usage (sometimes av software monitor file read writes and interfere with process which is writing the file)

  1. 8mbps down speed
  2. download from start to end cpu usage wander around 10-20%
  3. Just some regular rar file from google drive.
  4. Already tried disable even uninstalling AV. Note I am using your download manager because latest chrome have some restriction on extension and manual link capture not working by many downloader.

I have the same issue. CPU consumption is way too high.

I am downloading rockylinux dvd image. And my cpu usage went to 100% once starting the download. Internet speed 150mbps.

  1. Once i pause the download, the cpu usage comes down to 3-4%.
  2. When i resume download the cpu usage goes to 100%
  3. When i apply speed limiter to "1000K" the cpu usage comes down to 13-14%

I checked the task manager, and OpenJDK Platform Binary (32-bit) takes up around 75 percent of CPU use.

I have also experienced the same issue on both Windows and linux.
