Question

I'm downloading a big 49,5GB zip file, and right as it was finishing downloading, I checked the progress and saw that it's stopped because of the "Disk is either full or readonly" error. I don't know what caused it since both my C: and D: disks have free space for the file and they're not read-only. Every time I try to start the download again, it immediately stops. I searched a bit online but couldn't find anything except for one unanswered issue on GitHub. How can I fix this? imagem_2024-01-08_014727546 image

both my C: and D: disks have free space

How much?

How much?

Enough space for the entire file. I cleared my C: drive specifically for this download.

Any updates on this? Just tried downloading the entire file again and the same thing happened...

Make sure to have at least twice as much free space as the downloaded file. xdm needs to have a free space to store both the downloaded parts and the assembled final result.

I followed what roskee said and clearing up some space for 'assembled result' fixed the problem for me

You can go to settings and change the temp download location to where you want to download that huge file or to any other place where there's much more free storage than the size of the file you are downloading. That worked for me. This same issue is there in IDM (Internet download manager) too and since I was using that earlier, I knew how to fix this issue, anyways I've now changed to XDM.

This issue is also happening to me. I have created a windows 11 virtual machine, installed XDM and used it for many months with no problems. I am now unable to download any file because of this error. Here are the things that I have done to fix this:

  • Verified that drive has plenty of space on virtual machine and host machine
  • Created a new mount point (temp xdm directory) on both the host drive and a usb drive
  • Created an entirely new vm, reinstalled XDM, same problem

Any ideas why this occurs because it doesn't seem, to me, that it is related, atleast in my case, that it relates to either of the given reasons - full disk / readonly.
