Successfully installed, but receive an error message when opening

This is the error message which appears after I click on "Vega" (finding it by typing into search). The application fails to open, and this is the only window which appears instead, detailing the following message:

An error has occurred. See the log file /home/aquila/.eclipse/com.subgraph.vega.application.product_1.0.0.201410142137_878987587/configuration/1634757865628.log

This project has not been updated in years and needs Java 8. If your Java version is newer than that you will get that error dialog. At least I did. My Java version default is 11. There is no option in this app to select a jdk, at least I could not find any. I had to go though loops and hoops with my environment variables to get the default to be 8 instead of 11. This site helped me: https://www.happycoders.eu/java/how-to-switch-multiple-java-versions-windows/ It is for Windows. But once I had Java 8 the program ran. From the error message it is not obvious that it is the reason.
