standalone source code blocks

While we may use #56 for some source code things that we might traditionally have just inlined.. there's still a need for source code blocks when the entire idea is captured within the code. Here's an example. In it, there is no logical other file that I would be referencing, as this is just a code snippet to be useful in the future.
