Blender 2.92 + Ubuntu 20,04 + fspy = crash on rotating planes in blender

Title says it all. I created a project in fspy. Loaded it into Blender 2.92 with the fspy addon. Began modeling a simple 3d scene to project images from fspy onto. And shortly found that when I try to rotate image planes blender freezes. This problem is not present in Blender 2.83, which I found to be stable. (and which I reverted to and successfully finished the project with)
