Is there a way to save a copy of a PDF page as an image?

To provide additional context, basically I need to apply redactions to a PDF. My thought is to generate a new PDF that has a single image in it (a copy of the original PDF) but the image is modified so that an area is blacked out.

If there is a better way, I'd like to know though.
