Saving Depth Map with GIMP HEIF

I can load and export iOS HEIF with latest GIMP which is cool.

Recently I am playing with "3D Photo" of Facebook which is able to load "Portrait Mode" HEIF. If we want to generate this kind of image with depth, can we use your HEIF plugin? Thanks!

I tried creating channel and calling it "Depth Map" just like Photoshop CC 2018 when loading HEIF, but does not work. iPhone does not detect it as Portrait photo.

I'd like to have this feature too. Btw. is this the right place for feature requests, or is it the Gimp issue tracker?
