I assume that it doesn't matter that not all code paths hit the reachability fence. Is the presence of them at the end of the method all that is needed...

Improve iterator performance and add better stream support

I've implemented replacements for CursorIterable that appear to be faster. Raising this issue to coincide with the `iterator-performance` branch.
