New UI: Allow to hide root folder

Open lucsoft opened this issue 3 years ago • 8 comments

i don't see any benefits of having a root folder the db name could just be the label of the current label 'Hierarchy' this would also better align with the other groups

Hi @lucsoft - I'm afraid I disagree here, the root folder contains items, can be renamed, expanded/contracted, marked as searchable, has notes, has "Folder" properties and is just a regular node in KeePass land.

I can understand where you are coming from (on iOS, this folder is hidden/glossed out) but in the macOS context I think I prefer this being treated as a regular node and displayed as such.

One option that might work for you, is to ignore the hierarchy altogether. Collapse it, and work with tags which are only a single level of hierarchy.

For now, I'm afraid this is a By Design/Not a Bug/Won't Fix. Thanks for your feedback though.

One more thing @strongbox-mark: just that we are talking about the same thing

i like that the indentation is removed not the root folder itself

I see what you mean... This could be interesting to experiment with. Thanks.

BTW, in your screenshots above, the disclosure arrow for the Recycle Bin is missaligned, are you see this in App or is this an editing artifact?

no the misalignment is also a bug :D

Are you seeing it on 1.16.12? I can't reproduce that here.

strongbox-mark avatar Feb 16 '22 09:02 strongbox-mark

No updates here. This seems fairly cosmetic right now, no?
