Classic AutoType feature
Are there any plans implementing the classic AutoType feature? It's the only reason I don't bought the Pro Version and still have to rely on KeePassXC. While the AutoFill feature must be really nice there are still a lot of places in macOS, where it's not supported.
Hi @daletman - It's a chunky one, and we've stayed clear of it for a long time due to the complexity, but also the support load this would generate. Lots of users will not be able to configure this feature correctly and it is brittle on changing sites, with possibility of exposing passwords if you get the fields wrong. The first thing they'll do is feel Strongbox is broken or has done something wrong or is at fault. This might be something we'd hide behind a big Advanced feature Opt-In screen with the caveat that we would provide tech support for it.
For those reasons, we're not crazy about this one. It's not a hard no, but we'd want to check out every other avenue before including support for this. Perhaps plugins first or somehow contributing to Mozilla/Chrome's efforts to properly integrate with macOS Password AutoFill.
We can keep this issue open as a placeholder for possible future AutoType support.
