Notebooks are not synced properly

I have added notebook and notes in mobile APP. When opened my desktop, only new notebook showed up, the new notes didn't show up in desktop software.

Device information: App version: 1.8.5-8f22acb-desktop OS: OS X 10.15.7 Browser: Electron 17.0.1 Pro: false

I had clicked sync but didn't sync at the point of time I submitted the issue. It's sync now but the sync happened after 15 minutes since the first time I opened my desktop software and clicked sync, and after more than 30 minutes since the time I wrote my note on APP version.

There is a new note which is typed in APP but never sync in Desktop version even after few days. In addition, the note which is never shown in Desktop version only showed up in Notes list in APP version, while the note is stored in a Topic of a notebook. So If I go to the specific notebook that I put the note in to find the note, I can't find it when using APP version. I only can find that note in note list (which is All notes from all notebooks) in APP version, while the note is clearly marked as in that specific notebook and that specific topic, and that note is not shown in anywhere in Desktop version (Either it's Notes list or that specific notebook, that note is not shown in Desktop)

Hey, try the following to fix the syncing issue:

  1. Go to Settings on your Phone.
  2. Click on "Having problems with sync and wait for the sync to complete
  3. Now go Settings on Desktop App
  4. Click on "Having problems with Sync" and wait for sync to complete.

Hopefully this will fix the problem of missing Note on desktop.

To fix Note not appearing in Notebook.

  1. Click on 3-dot button on the problematic Note
  2. In properties, click on "Add to notebook"
  3. Readd the Note to the same Notebook/Topic. If it's already added, tap to remove and then tap again to add it.
  4. Sync

There is currently a long running bug where sometimes notebooks don't get synced properly. I'll investigate this further.

Are you still seeing this in v2.1?

Yes. It is still in the latest version 2.1.3. It didn't sync the update from mobile to Desktop automatically. (But the sync from Desktop to mobile work quite well, it sync automatically) The update from mobile to Desktop requires shutting down and reopening the Desktop version, then using the method you suggest: Click Setting -> Having problems with syncing? If updating in mobile while the Desktop version remains open, the method of Having problems with syncing won't work. It requires shutting down and reopening the Desktop version, and reopening won't sync automatically. It requires reopening it, then clicking "Having problems with syncing?" (I tried a few times clicking "Having problems with syncing?" without reopening the Desktop but unsuccess) And this flow doesn't work every time.

If updating in mobile while the Desktop version shuts down, which is as same as reopening Desktop, it doesn't work. And I tried a few times, but sometimes it changes to the previous update after I do "Having problems with syncing?". For example, I update a note with the text "Test 1". -> Reopen the Desktop and click "Having problems with syncing?" -> Then the note changed successfully.

Then I update the same note and replace the text "Test 1" with "Test 2". -> Reopen the Desktop and click "Having problems with syncing?" -> Then the note changed successfully.

Then I update the same note and replace the text "Test 2" with "Test 3" -> Reopen the Desktop and click "Having problems with syncing?" -> Then the note suddenly changes back to the "Test 1" note. But reopening the Desktop, it goes back to "Test 2" text, while still not syncing to the latest version "Test 3"
