Recording takes too much memory

I am recording video from 2 sources and audio from 1 source. Thus three mediaStreamRecorder instances are being used. I am recording with blob durations of 5 mins(timeslice = 1000_60_5). After recording and successfully saving the first few blobs, I notice that 3 GB of my RAM is being occupied b chrome due to this and is increasing. Is the data that has been saved not being cleared from memory. If so, then is there something that I can do to clear it?

• 1 this is something I'd be really interested in hearing how other people deal with this problem. I'd like to have extended recording of up to an hour but I need a way of controlling memory usage within the browser for this to be possible. I've come across a few methods for removing the video from the dom but none seem to work cleanly for me and I'm unable to get the stream to start back up and continue.
