removing unused translation strings

at the request of the translations team, removed a number of strings from translation files that were unused.

while going through this, I saw some strings that were "used" but in components that were no longer in use, so there's probably more cleanup that can be done here but for the scope of this PR I wanted to keep it strictly to strings that were explicitly not used anywhere
