Character Fact/Prop Timeline
In many stories, the classic Watergate investigation line applies, "What Did the President Know, and When Did He Know It?"
There are many pieces of information for which we simply must keep track of who knows what, and when they know it.
Once the product has a way to differentiate between "the order of scene presentation to the audience" and "the timeline in which scenes happened in 'real life'", it becomes possible to mark when a character learns/forgets a fact or gains/loses an item in the "real life" timeline.
Once that's done, it's possible to construct a timeline chart (similar to a gantt chart in project management) that shows that. It also means that if a character has said knowledge or item in a scene outside that timeline, it's a continuity error.
Hope that makes sense, if not, I'll try again.
Interesting idea. Thank you!
Glad you like it!
