Error message when trying to mount external HDD

Open PremiereStoss opened this issue 6 months ago • 2 comments

Hello all,

On June 20, 2025 (7 days ago from this posting), I started having an issue with mounting an external drive. It gives me an error message saying I am not authorized to mount the drive. After spending tons of time with trying to change permissions, etc. I finally found an answer. But, I don’t know why, and, it really is only a temp fix.

Posted on reddit, some with my same problem suggested to do this command ‘sudo systemctl restart udisks2’. And, that worked but when I reboot it is the same issue all over again until I run that command.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can you share more details about your distribution? Was there any related system updates at that time? This looks more like a distribution issue as nothing has changed in udisks.

I am using Fedora 42 KDE edition.

I have been using Linux for a while now but I am not a 'hardcore' user. So, I really don't know how to check the system for which files, etc. have been updated and when. As you can see in my original post, I did put the date of when I started having the issues.

Thanks!
