Add a little bit of fake ore

Open Huge-mistake opened this issue 9 months ago • 1 comments

Now some cheating clients have the function of persistent mineral marking. When players walk through a cave, all ore revealed by ray tracing will be persistently marked. At this point, RayTraceAntiXray's detection through ray tracing and sending stone data packets will no longer work, because these cheating clients have already persistently marked the locations of ore. If possible, could we send a few scattered fake ore to confuse them (not as dense as Paper's mode 2 and mode 3), in an attempt to weaken the advantage of this persistent ore marking?(ai bot)

Just to point out the actual issue: One could argue that if an ore got revealed to a player, the player must have been able to see the ore (if ray tracing was implemented 100% accurate) and thus it could be considered legit and doesn't need to be prevented. That's also why the rehide-blocks config option is configurable. Enabling rehide-blocks doesn't necessarily provide more protection. At least not against smart clients that persistently mark ores as you say.

However, I can understand that it's still a huge benefit if one can just "blindly" run through caves and then mine all the detected ores afterwards.

The problem is that at this point this will become a cat-and-mouse game because there will be ways to differentiate the fake ores from correctly persistently marked ores again.

I might add something like that sometime, but not in the near future, as there are more important things to do currently.
